2006 News and Information

Eighteen Top 3 Scores at Snowball Classic

17 CTDC divers competed at the 2006 Snowball Classic, in Scarborough Ontario. They combined for Eighteen Top 3 scores. Finishing First for their respective age groups in the 1 Metre event were: Nicholas Apostolou, Jessica Chan, Siobhan Holladay, James Hunter, Neil Mierins, and Jade Poole. Finishing Second were: Michael Apostolou, Caroline Booth, Trevor Paterson, Jami Poole, Nicole Scott, Yasmin Virani, and Katherine Welsh. Finshing Third were: Kathleen Chandler, Dylan Grisell, and Heather McKeown. In addition Yasmin and Jessica finished First and Second respectively in the Girls D 3 Metre event.
Divers who reached qualifying scores for the Tier 1 Provincials were: Michael, Nicholas, Alex Chan, Jessica (2), Kathleen, Dylan, James, Neil, Jade, Jami, Nicole and Yasmin.

All CTDC Divers on Podium at Capitol City

All of CTDC's divers finished on the Podium at the 2006 Capitol City Invitational, in Nepean Ontario. Finishing First for their respective age groups were Jessica Chan (1M & 3M), and Dylan Grisell (1M & 3M). Finishing Second were: Alex Chan (1M & 3M), Heather McKeown (1M), and Katherine Welsh (1M). Heather also finished Third in the 3 Metre event, as did Yasmin Virani.
Alex, Jessica, Dylan, Yasmin and Katherine all reached Tier 1 Provincial Qualifying Scores for their events.

A First and Two Seconds at Spring Break Invitational

James Hunter, Jesse Perez, and Katherine Welsh combined for a First Place and two Second Place finishes at the Spring Break Invitational. James finished First in the Boys C 1 Metre, Jesse was Second in the Boys D 1 Metre, and finally Katherine was Second in the Girls D 1 Metre.
James and Katherine also qualified for the Tier 1 Provincial Championships.

Seven Podium Finishes at Ontario Winter Games

The 2006 Ontario Winter Games were held at the Etobicoke Olympium from March 10th to 12th. CTDC divers had seven finishes on the podium. Michael Apostolu was Second in the Boys C 1 Metre; Nicholas Apostolou was Third in the Boys B 1 Metre; Dylan Grisell was Third in the Boys C Platform; Neil Mierins was Third in the Boys C 1 Metre, and Second in the Boys C 3 Metre, and finally Nicole Scott was Third in both the Girls B 1 Metre and 3 Metre events.
Reaching Tier I Provincial Qualifying Scores were: Michael (1M, 3M); Nicholas (1M 3M); Alex Chan (1M, 3M); Dylan (1M, 3M, PF); Shane MacDonald (1M, 3M); Neil (1M, 3M); and Nicole (1M, 3M).

Four CTDC Divers reach National Qualifying Score

Four CTDC divers reached Junior National Qualifying Scores at the 2006 Forest City Invitational, a Group 2 qualifying event. Michael Apostolou reached the scores in the 1 Metre and 3 Metre events, finishing Third in each (Boys D). Nicholas Apostolou did so in the 1 Metre event, finishing Second (Boys B). Dylan Grisell reached his scores in the 3 Metre and Platform events, finishing Second and First respectively (Boys D). Finally, Neil Mierins reached his scores in the 1 Metre and 3 Metre events, finishing Third in each (Boys C).
Shane MacDonald had CTDC's other top 3 finish with a Third in the Boys B 3 Metre event.
Reaching Tier I Provincial Qualifying Scores for their respective Age Groups were: Nicholas (3 M); Alex Chan (1M, 3M); Jessica Chan (1M); Kathleen Chandler (1M, 3M); Dylan (1M); Shane (1M, 3M); Heather McKeown (1M, 3M); Nicole Scott (1M, 3M, PF); Yasmin Virani (1M., 3M); Rachelle Zuccaro (1M, 3M).
In Synchro diving, Shane and Neil had a Third place finish in the Men's Open 3 Metre event. They reached the Tier 1 Provincial qualifying score, as did Alex and Dylan (3M), and Kathleen and Nicole (3M).
Finally in Masters Diving, Anna Dacyshyn finished Second in the Mixed 1 Metre event.

Eight Top 3 Scores at Tier II Provincials

At the Ontario Tier II Provincial Championships, in Waterloo Ontario, CTDC divers scored Eight Top 3 Finishes. Finishing First were: James Hunter (Boys C 1 Metre); Jesse Perez (Boys D 1 Metre); and Doug Savage (Men's Open 1 Metre and 3 Metre). Finishing Second were: Chris Alger (Men's Open 1 Metre and 3 Metre); and Katherine Welsh (Girls D 1 Metre). Finally, Trevor Patterson finished Third in Boys C 1 Metre.
James and Katherine both qualified for the Tier I Provincial Championships.

Three CTDC Divers qualify for Junior Nationals

Three CTDC divers qualified for the 2006 Speedo Junior National Championships, at the 2006 John Dickinson Invitational. Michael Apostolou qualified in the Boys D 1 Metre and 3 Metre events. Michael's brother Nicholas Apostolou qualified in the Boys B 1 Metre. Dylan Grisell qualified in the Boys D 1 Metre, 3 Metre and Platform events. Congratulations guys.
Michael came Second in his 1 Metre event, and Dylan placed Second in both the 3 Metre and Platform events.
Also reaching Junior National Qualifying Scores were: Alex Chan (Boys D 1 Metre and Platform), Nicole Scott (Girls B 3 Metre), and Rachelle Zuccaro (Girls A 1 Metre).
In addition to the above, reaching Tier I Provincial Qualifying Scores were: Michael Apostolou (PF); Nicholas Apostolou (3M); Alex Chan (3M); Jessica Chan (1M, 3M); Kathleen Chandler (3M); Nicole Scott (1M); Yasmin Virani (1M, 3M, PF), and Rachelle Zuccaro (3M).
In Masters Diving, Doug Savage finished First in both the Over 40 1 Metre and 3 Metre events, and Ben Toner also finished First in the Under 40 1 Metre and 3 Metre events.

Dylan Grisell reaches Junior National Qualifying Scores Again

Dylan Grisell reached the Junior National Qualifying Scores twice at the 2006 Quebec Provincial Championships, in Montreal Quebec. Dylan qualified in the Boys D 1 Metre and 3 Metre events. He finished 3rd in both events, as he did in the Platform event. Dylan had previously qualified in all three events.
In other results, Kathleen Chandler and Nicole Scott finished First in the Women's Open 3 Metre Synchro event.
